Maybe Walking Soon?

Graham has been standing really well these days and we believe he's ready to take the next step. We decided to get him a truck that can be used as a walker first then it will turn into something he can ride in. It took us a while to put it together...(don't know why it takes so long to put something so simple together!) But once it was finished, it was like love at first sight for Graham. He had the biggest smile and he couldn't take his eyes off it. We let him sit in it first and he enjoyed riding it with us pushing him. He had to take Mr. Lamb along for the ride too and they both had a great time on it. After a little while, we let him stand up with it. He didn't know what to do at first but we both guided him and taught him how it works. I really believe he's a fast learner because after only a couple of times showing him, he started walking with it by himself. It's so cute watching him walk with it...it was like seeing an old man with a walker but it's a 9 month old with a walker... did that make any sense? Anyway, here are a few pictures of him with the truck. We need some suggestions to name the truck...

Here's the link to a video of him walking with the truck:

Graham & Mady Kay

Max's law school friend Brian and his wife Ali came to Birmingham for a wedding last weekend. They were pretty good friends during school and I got to know Ali pretty well too. Unfortunately, they moved to Atlanta after law school and we fell out of touch with them. We kept up with one other through facebook but you know it's not the same. We were really happy to see them and hang again while they were here. We share a couple of things in common. We both have the same wedding anniversary (April 5) and we both had our first kid recently. They have a little girl name Mady Kay and she's 14 months old now. She is the sweetest, prettiest girl I've seen! Graham and Mady Kay met for the first time Sunday morning and I'd have to say they got along pretty great. She would try to give him hugs but he would just look at her and have this look like what are you doing? It was great watching him interact with another child closer to his age. It's too bad we don't know a whole lot of couples around our age with kids... Graham needs friends.... (hint hint at a few people...you know who you are) Anyway, here are a few pictures from that day.

Almost ONE

Graham has been putting his index finger up a lot like he's saying I'm one ... In a way, he's right... he'll be ONE soon. Donielle and I have to start planning his birthday party soon. It's going to be a blast! I know he won't remember a thing about but I'll have lots of pictures to show him when he's older.

So a few more firsts:

First time on the swing at the park
First stand by himself for 20 secounds
First taste of meat (chicken, steak)
First Clap of hands

Here are some pictures taken recently

9 months old today!

War Eagle!

So Graham is 9 months old today which happens to be the day Auburn plays West Virginia. Since Graham doesn't know which team is his favorite, we decided to get both Alabama and Auburn outfits for him. I had this cute little "Auburn" outfit made for him with his name on it. He wore it during the game to cheer them on. It's a pretty big game and dates have always played a part since we got pregnant with him. The day we found out Graham was Graham (8-8-08) was also the day the summer Olympic started in China....etc. So I'm thinking Graham will probably be an Auburn fan.... What do you think?

Here are some things Graham has accomplished:
  • He can now climb UP stairs (not down yet)
  • Starting to eat regular food (ie Rice, Mash Potatoes...etc)
  • He has a total of 8 teeth now (Crazy huh?)
  • Standing really good (with help of course)
  • Sits on his Giraffe Rocker (the cutest thing) - Note: His nursery has been an animal theme...which is cool
  • Says Da Da all the time and a few ma ma's....

Graham's 1st Plane Ride

Aunt Gloria was gracious enough to buy a plane ticket for Graham and me to Philadelphia so we may visit her. When she asked to see if Labor Day weekend was going to be ok, I thought to myself.. flying with Graham alone..YIKES! I couldn't pass up the opportunity plus I've missed my sister.

We got up around 6:30, finish up rest of the packing and left for Atlanta around 9:00 am. Ran into some traffic (a RV caught on fire!) and that delayed our plan to eat dim sum before heading to the airport. We had to go straight to the airport by the time we got close to Downtown Atlanta. I've never been to the Atlanta International Airport but man, that place was crazy! It took us an hour to get to the gate! Max was able to go all the way until the gate (that helped more than you can imagine) Word of advice: do not fly with an infant by yourself! It was so difficult to get situated once on the plane. Everyone is looking at you like, gosh, you're taking forever! BUT, overall, Graham did very well on the plane. He didn't cry taking off or landing. The girl sitting next me said he had a great first experience with flying. I'm glad I didn't piss of any of the passengers!!

Graham and I have been enjoying our stay so far. We plan to go to the US Open on Monday... that will be another first for Graham.

Updates

It seems like yesterday that Graham was born but he is now 8 months old and looking more "boyish". Here are some things he can do now.

Crawling - really good too. Especially when he sees something he wants. Gotta watch him though, he's fast.

Drinking from a sippy cup - just a couple of time but he's getting the hang of it.

Stand with help - He can lean on the couch, hold onto the edge of a table, with our hands... He's got some strong legs on him for sure.

I think he's going to be able to walk before he turns 1. We shall see.

Mommy's Birthday Party

We had a few friends over yesterday to celebrate my 29th birthday. It was suppose to be a pool/shrimp boil party but turned out just to be a shrimp boil party. One of my really good friend Caitlin came over with her daughter Natalie. It was the first time for the babies to meet so we were anxious to see how they were going to act with each other. Natalie was first scared by Millie and Boswell (our poms) but after a while, she was fine. She started to want to hold "the baby" and kissed him over and over again. :) It was very fun for Graham to have someone somewhat closer to his age. Here are a few pictures of them together.

Natalie "trying" to hold Graham. It's the cutest thing!

Graham is thinkng, "who is this pretty blond girl?"

Time to check your diaper, Graham!

Graham is LOVED

For the past few weeks, Graham has had all the families come visit. First Grandpa from Indy, Gloria and Cole from Philly and now Grandma and Grandpa from Cali! It's been very nice to have all of them over because I can truly feel the love they have for Graham. He's going to be a spoiled rotten child. :) I'll make sure he will be a GOOD spoiled rotten child...

Here are a few pictures with Grandma & Grandpa:

Stars Fell on...

Graham for the first time last night. Max's dad had asked us to go to dinner last night and thought maybe we could take a stroll through Star Lake in Hoover afterwards. We thought it was a great idea and what a night it was. The weather was perfect, clear sky and the air smelled so fresh and clean. As we were walking around the lake, Max's dad told us Hoover Country Club was having their 4th of July celebration and there would be fireworks. "Let's go over there", he says. So we proceed to walk over there and had the greatest time!

We sat on the golf course for a little while enjoying the nice weather, people chattering away and around 9 pm, the fireworks started. I didn't know how Graham was going to react but he did an awesome job! He just watched them as they went up but the noise did startle him a bit and he did cry a little bit.

I'd have to say that it was truly the most amazing fireworks I've ever seen. They were right on top of us the entire time. I believe we will be returning to see fireworks here every year!

Happy 4th of July everyone!

6 months check up today

What a day we've had today. It's my first Friday off in a very long time and I had appointments to schedule on my day off.  My first appointment was with Dr. Sarah for my "yearly" check up at 8am. Why I scheduled it for first thing in the morning... I have no idea! Graham was on his best behavior and all the nurses just loved having him there.

I also scheduled Graham's 6 months appointment for the same day at 11:15.  Dr. Huie walked in and immediately noticed that Graham's ache problems have gone away! He continued to examine him and said he's a perfectly healthy boy! Since he is 6 months old, Dr. Huie said we can introduce more food to him if we wanted to. Just no meat products yet. Graham also received his shots again and he did a lot better this time. Cried only a little bit and quit right after it was done. The nurse was very impressed by that. Dr. Huie said the next time he sees him (which will be the 9 months check up) he will be crawling! So, he now weights in at 18 pounds and 12 ounces (70%) and 29 inches tall (95%).
